 Benefits of apple cider vinegar

There has been a strong and renewed focus on using natural products in everyday life. We have witnessed a surge in interest of ‘organically made’ products, ranging from the clothes we wear, the sheets we sleep in, right through to the food we put in our bodies.

The market has become saturated with claims of ‘natural’ and ‘organic’, with an onslaught of advertising through TV, radio and on product packaging. It can become hard to decipher what products actually do what they ‘say on the box’ or which products are just the next fad.

You may have read about the benefits of apple cider vinegar (ACV), which has been touted as a miracle cure for everything from cancer to UTI’s. While more research is being done to quantify the far reaching benefits of ACV, there are some proven benefits that your pooch could be benefiting from today.

Here’s 3 ways your dog can benefit from apple cider vinegar:

1.    Relieve itchy skin: ACV can be applied topically to help relieve itchy and irritated skin. Simply mix 1 part ACV, to 1 part water in a spray bottle.  Spray the mix directly on the skin. Important: Do not use this method if your dog has an open wound.

2.    Keep ticks and fleas at bay: Using the same method mentioned above, spray your  greyhound with the solution before it heads outdoor.

3.    Ear cleaning: Dip a cotton ball in a solution of equal parts ACV and water, and swab the inside of your pooches ear to keep bad bacteria and microorganisms at bay. Important: use a cotton ball only (and not a Q-tip) and ensure you do not push it inside the ear canal as this can harm your dogs’ ears.
When looking for the right ACV to use on your pet, try and find raw, organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Organic ACV will ensure no pesticides or toxic chemicals were used in the production process, and that your pooch will reap all the benefits of live enzymes.

If your dog has ongoing skin or ear irritations, your vet will be able to provide advice on the best products to use to keep your pooch healthy and happy.
