Tuesday, 4 October, is World Animal Day, where animal lovers across the globe unite to make the world a better place for all animals.
The mission of World Animal Day is to:
- Celebrate animals in all forms (wild and domestic)
- Celebrate humankind’s relationship with animals
- Acknowledge the role that animals can play in our lives
- Be thankful for how animals enrich our lives
Sometimes it can feel like as an individual you can't make an impact, but there are ways that you can make positive changes to the lives of animals around you.
If you're wondering how you can participate, here are a few ideas of how you can get involved in your own way:
1. Donate funds or resources to an organisation for animals such as your local animal shelter or to us at GAP NSW; you can donate here: https://www.gapnsw.com.au/donate.
2. Volunteer your time with a local animal charity. We have rewarding roles available to help foster greyhounds. We will help and guide you all the way; It’s a critical part of our process to get the greyhounds ready for adoption. If you are interested, you can learn more about this vital role here: https://www.gapnsw.com.au/foster
3. Show your pet some extra love by making their favourite meal or treat or spending the evening playing with them
4. If you are looking for a dog, choose to adopt rather than buy, there are a number of local animal shelters across NSW that adopt dogs. Greyhounds make excellent pets and if you want to see some of the beautiful greyhounds we have that are ready for adoption, check them out here: https://www.gapnsw.com.au/our-greyhounds.
