Matey the Dog was a homeless mixed breed that took it upon himself to make sure that revellers in Surfer’s Paradise got home safely for 12 years. A statue honouring this very good boy has stood since the 1950’s, and we have a feeling that our handsome Matey is also statue-worthy and will make enough of an impression on you to also stand the test of time. Where the two differ however, is that we know our Matey would love a home of his own, and there’s no way he’s going to be doing anything but sleeping all night!
Matey is a 2.5 year old with a stunning blue fawn coat and a personality to match. Although he’s a pretty boy, Matey isn’t afraid to get his paws dirty doing zoomies around the yard, and would love a big backyard of his own. This boy is still learning how much fun toys can be, but doesn’t mind a tasty treat.
Matey has shown a liking to his canine friends at the facility and may suit a home with another med/lrg canine, pending a meet and greet first.
Matey has been coping well when on his own and could easily fit into a family of workers. He has been a little sensitive at times when experiencing all the things his new pet life comes with and tends to prefer that his human friends are less handsy than some, so we feel a home without children will be best.
